Septic service in Silver Springs Shores, Florida

Septic help for the large subdivision southeast of Ocala, where septic-to-sewer conversion is underway.

Silver Springs Shores sits about 10 miles southeast of downtown Ocala and had 24,846 residents at the 2020 census, making it one of the largest communities in unincorporated Marion County. Most of it was built out on single-family lots, many of them served by individual septic tanks.

What is the septic-to-sewer program?

In April 2022 the Marion County Commission approved a septic-to-sewer conversion program for designated areas of unincorporated Marion County, using federal pandemic relief money, and named Silver Springs Shores as the initial focus. Owners in a designated zone get notices before sewer becomes available and then have 365 days to connect. Grant money was set to cover initial connection costs for owners who connect within the deadline.

Should I still pump my tank?

Yes, until you're actually connected. A tank that backs up the month before the sewer line arrives is still a mess. If you've received a connection notice, tell the septic company so they can advise on what's worth doing in the meantime, including how the old tank will be handled at connection.

Common jobs here
